How We Make a Difference

We hope you’ve been following our 31 Reasons to Give to The WIT Network campaign, which kicked off at the beginning of December. The WIT Network is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, which means our mission and programs are fueled by donations from supporters like you. December is the month of giving, and as you plan to make your charitable donations during your holiday shopping, we want to show you why The WIT Network should be on your list.

Did you know that women in management still earn only $0.71 for every dollar their male counterpart earns? While women have made progress in closing the gender pay gap over the years, there is still a big gaping hole to close it fully, which means we still have a lot of work to do. This is one of the key missions of The WIT Network. We seek to empower and uplift women and create more opportunities for them to thrive in the tech workspace. How do we accomplish this? The WIT Network provides education, community, networking, and mentoring for women in tech to sustain and nurture a flourishing career path.

Since its inception six years ago, The WIT Network has grown globally to over 14,000 members. A membership with The WIT Network provides a woman in tech access to educational programming; this specialized programming includes career development, leadership training, mentoring opportunities, networking with other women, tech training, and more. A donation of $100 would sponsor a membership for a woman in tech and allow her to advance her career. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The WIT Network does so much more to make a difference.

We will explore this subject further next week, but relationships, growth, and empowerment are the backbone of community-building. The WIT Network has developed over 50 global communities that meet in person. This is so important since we lost the ability to meet in person due to the pandemic. The global communities allow women to experience that human connection again, fostering lasting relationships. A donation of $500 would sponsor a community event in your area allowing women the much needed opportunity to network.  Our communities are one more way we make a difference; still, there’s more.

We cannot achieve our mission of elevating women in tech without building strong corporate partnerships. The dissolution of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs across many corporations has been challenging, working against the grain of our goals and intentions to elevate and empower women in tech. The good news is that there are still some companies out there that want to support our mission and want to re-ignite DEI programs to attract more qualified women into their fold. The WIT Network is proud to have partnered with over 50 corporations aligned with our goals to dissolve the gender gap and create more growth opportunities for women in tech.

We consider it part of our mission to directly provide membership opportunities for women in tech while educating and empowering companies to expand or re-introduce their DEI initiatives. Through their partnership with The WIT Network, these organizations can offer membership and programming directly to their women in tech to further their career objectives.

We understand that this is a marathon, not a sprint. It will take our diligence and persistence in order to positively affect change for women in tech. We are making a difference but cannot continue this fight alone. We need the support of your donations to sustain our efforts and ignite further initiatives to propel women in tech.
