The WIT Network: A year-end review

Reflecting on 2023: Growth and Impact at The WIT Network

The year 2023 has been dynamic and transformative, especially in the tech industry. Amidst widespread layoffs and operational shifts, individuals and companies alike navigated the post-pandemic landscape, grappling with the challenge of sustaining growth with leaner structures. Despite these industry-wide changes, The WIT Network has continued to flourish, expanding our membership through a wealth of developmental opportunities and inspiring stories, benefiting our members profoundly.

Empowering Women in Tech: Our 2023 Journey

At The WIT Network, we've had a remarkable year dedicated to empowering women at various career stages. Our mission—which encompasses training, mentoring, networking, technical education, and leadership development—has never been more vital. Let's celebrate some of our key accomplishments:

Creating Connections:

  • Achieved a significant milestone with over 11,000 members, marking a 54% growth year over year.
  • Expanded our global reach to 76 countries around the globe.
  • What’s next: We’re preparing to launch our new WIT Connects platform in 2024, simplifying global connections among members.

Power of Community:

  • Reinvigorated our global communities, now encompassing 39 hubs led by over 90 passionate local leaders.
  • Successfully hosted 96 events in 2023, attracting over 2,000 participants including members, guests, and job seekers.
  • The WIT WISE (Women in Software Engineering) initiative continued to bolster women in technical roles through 5 webinars and 8 Coding Coaches Coffee Hours.

Charting Career Learning Paths:

  • Enabled 1,000 women to participate in the WIT Accelerates Leadership Programs, thanks to our generous sponsors.
  • Focused our Tech Track Training on Data and Data Management, with 156 graduates.
  • Hosted 3 conferences celebrating International Women’s Day, WOMANagement for first-line managers, and our first-ever Allyship conference on International Men’s Day.

Mentorship and Development:

  • Organized 18 mentoring circles, supporting over 1,000 participants in collaborative learning and connection.
  • The top five topics this year included: resume revamping, negotiation skills, career evolution, and mastering time management.

Big Initiatives:

  • Launched our allyship programming in 2023, recognizing the crucial work of identifying, training, and encouraging more men—who currently hold over 80% of leadership positions—to become allies. In addition to our International Men’s Day conference, our efforts included a 6-month Executive Senior Leader Cohort for men, online allyship training available for companies, and Allies MENtoring Circles, all of which was received with overwhelmingly positive feedback.
  • Continued success with the WIT Accelerates Leadership Program, which has graduated over 500 Women. We’re now seeking sponsorships to support an additional 240 women in 2024.
  • Hosted 3 exclusive in-person events for 100 senior women executives, with keynotes, mentoring circles, and panels that fostered discussions on women's roles in the workplace. Looking forward, we’re actively identifying inspiring role models who can inspire up-and-coming leaders and managers in 2024!

With momentum like this and big plans for empowering greater connection between The WIT Network members, we are thrilled to see where we will go together in 2024.

Cheers and Happy New Year to you from all of us at The WIT Network!
