Organizations to know: Lesbians Who Tech

Pride Month is an opportunity for organizations to highlight the strides they’ve made toward building a more inclusive workplace environment for their LGBTQ2S+ employees. However, there is still significant work to be done to support these workers. Even as LGBTQ2S+ visibility has grown in North America and around the globe, members of the community report feeling vulnerable and isolated in the workplace, according to research by McKinsey.

A survey of more than 4,000 LGBTQ2S+ employees across industries, occupations, and geographies found that they often feel like the ‘only’ or one of the only among few that identify with their sexual orientation or gender identity. They also report higher instances of microaggressions, more discomfort sharing mental-health concerns with coworkers, and greater feelings of isolation due to hybrid work.

As companies continue to evolve their strategies to promote inclusion, external organizations are stepping up to help create community and support the needs of LGBTQ2S+ workers.

About Lesbians Who Tech

Lesbians Who Tech is one such organization that is doing great work in the area of DEI on behalf of lesbians and other members of the LGBTQ2S+ community. Their goals are to be more visible to each other, to be more visible to others, to get more women, people of color, and queer and trans people into the technology sector, and to connect with other organizations and companies that are doing incredible work in the space.
