Community – Where Local Meets Global

Historically, the woman's club movement was a social movement that established the idea that women had a moral duty and responsibility to transform public policy. The first wave of the club movement during the progressive era was started by white, middle-class, Protestant women, and a second phase was led by African-American women.[1] Today, we are still fighting for women’s rights on so many levels.

In 2021, The WIT Network started building communities around the globe passionately run by women in their local cities to support and create connections with others. The word community versus chapter or club was purposeful as our vision is to create a feeling and sense of belonging for all members and guests who participate in our many local and global engagements.

Today our communities are growing and thriving. We have had women from all over the world volunteer to be part of a local leadership team or start their own community where one didn’t exist. In less than 6 months, we have doubled the number of locations and our Community Leadership team has grown almost threefold!

While women-led communities have been around since the 1800’s, the passion, energy, and focus on women’s initiatives, equality, and rights is still at the forefront. At The WIT Network, we like to celebrate all of those women-led communities, as they truly matter.

If you are looking for that volunteer opportunity to give some time and participate in a global movement towards gender equality, let us know. We are all about empowering, inspiring, and leading women to be and do their best.

In 2022, we had an outstanding year, thanks to all our Community Leaders who represented The WIT Network. Collectively, they hosted over 60 local events and have driven registrations to an all-time high which illuminates the continued demand for women-led programming and networking. The WIT Network has responded with incredible local engagement, and we are so fortunate to have such dynamic change agents across the globe!

Looking forward, we are continuing our mission to have a community in every major city to support women along their career journeys. We are looking to round out our North American communities in 2023 and break ground in new cities in LATAM, EMEA and APAC. When a group of passionate women get together for a cause, history shows that it ignites actions, drives outcomes and women support other women.

Check out our Community Leadership page to see if there is a local community where you live. You can join one or build one. The WIT Network team is here to support each community with best practices and leadership development. To learn more, reach out to Doreen Sebben, Executive Director, dsebben@thewitnetwork.com.
